Crews got the call at around 11:15 a.m. and it’s unclear if it was Thanksgiving-related.
“Some years there are some, some years, there’s not,” said Glenn Jirka, Battalion Chief of the Miami Valley Fire District. “I don’t know if that this one is at all related to Thanksgiving activity or anything. That remains to be seen from the investigation.”
In a 911 call obtained through a public records request, a female caller said she and her boyfriend were on their way home when they spotted the fire.
“I don’t know if they’re cooking or what, but there’s flames,” the caller told dispatch, adding that her boyfriend was trying to put the fire out with a hose.
Dispatch records showed that fire was in an attached garage and that all occupants were out of the house.
