Multiple semis, ambulance involved in West Carrollton crash

WEST CARROLLTON — Five vehicles, including two semitrucks and an ambulance, were involved in two related crashes on I-75 near Dixie Drive that closed the highway for over an hour.

The first crash happened around 7:50 p.m. Sunday, when a car hit the concrete wall on southbound I-75 over the Dixie bridge, according to West Carrollton Police Department.

The car rolled and ended up hitting two other vehicles, including a semi.

A private ambulance was driving through the area and stopped to check on crash victims. The ambulance was then hit by a semi that was attempting to pass the first crash, causing a second crash.

One person from the car that initially hit the concrete wall in the first crash was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Slick roads are believed to have played a role in both crashes.

The highway was reopened around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
