MIAMISBURG — A Coshocton County man found guilty of barging into a high school senior’s apartment and gunning him down in December of 2018 has been sentenced 30 years-to-life in prison.
Chaz Gillilan was arrested for shooting 18-year-old Noah Kinser a block away from a police station.

Prosecutors and Gillilan’s lawyer began their efforts Monday, May 17 to convince a jury about who is responsible for the death of Kinser, who was on his Christmas break from high school.
Kinser was shot and killed during a home invasion on Dec. 30 in an apartment on North First Street in Miamisburg.
Gillilan was one of four people that face charges in the case, but prosecutors made it clear that they believed he fired the shots that ended Kinser’s life.

Prosecutors told a jury that Gillilan came to Dayton from Columbus, met up with several other people, and drove to Miamisburg, planning to rob Kinser who prosecutors admitted had been selling marijuana.
Gillilan’s lawyers had a different version on the events during their opening statement on May 17, calling the incident “a drug deal gone bad.”
Lawyers claim Kinser had an AK-47 rifle, locked, loaded and ready to fire when Gillilan and another man entered the bedroom where Kinser and a teen girl were. They claim Kinser then grabbed the riffle and opened fire.
“Noah fired first, Chaz sits there because he defended himself, the law allows you to defend yourself,” John Pinard, Gillilan’s defense lawyer said.
Gillilan faced a total of 18 charges, but the one prosecutors keyed in on and presented evidence to a jury this week is the accusation that he killed Kinser.
