Jeff Lykins, Director and Chief of the Dayton Fire Department, said a company had been boring under the sidewalk and struck a natural gas line.
Crews evacuated homes on the entire block and checked the basement of each house. Lykins said there was one house that had some gas concentration.
“There was a high presence of gas in the area. We cordoned off the area. We evacuated the school over my shoulder and houses along the street,” Lykins said.
