As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, police and medics were dispatched to Marathon Avenue and Wheatley Avenue on reports of a two-vehicle crash around 9:45 a.m.

Witnesses told News Center 7 crews they heard a loud noise and rushed out of their houses to see what happened.

Photos from the scene show the bus completely off the right side of the road and elevated on a grassy hill.

A newly obtained 911 call reveals the first reports of the crash.

“It’s a car accident. An RTA bus and a car,” a 911 caller told a dispatcher.

Before police arrived on scene, neighbors watched as passengers piled off the bus.

“One passenger just came out of the bus, but I don’t know if there are any more in there,” the caller said.

The caller said it looked like people were injured but wasn’t sure.

Dayton Police Sergeant Creigee Coleman later confirmed that multiple people were injured in this crash.

“Medics with the Dayton Police Department arrived on scene to assist with this crash. At this time, we do have at least 8 people at local hospitals,” Coleman said

An iWitness 7 viewer sent video to News Center 7 showing a black car running a stop sign and colliding with the RTA bus.

“We are waiting for investigators to do their crash reconstruction and investigation to determine if speed was possibly a factor in this crash,” Coleman said.

According to Coleman, police do not believe alcohol was a factor in this crash.
