LAST REPORTS 2/7 @ 4:22 p.m.
A woman who said she was held against her will in a home for nearly two weeks was raped repeatedly, forced to perform sex acts and choked to the point of losing consciousness, according to new court records obtained by News Center 7.
The sheriff’s office responded Monday to a house on Jacksonburg Road to investigate a domestic-violence related call.
Sean Z. Barnett, 26, knew the victim for a long period of time and the pair had been talking on social media, according to a search warrant affidavit. Barnett is charged with rape, kidnapping, abduction, gross sexual imposition and assault.
“Barnett picked her up at a friend's house in Moraine and brought her to his house,” the affidavit read. “The pair almost immediately went to sleep upon arriving at the residence.”
When Barnett and the victim woke up, he reportedly pulled her off the couch by her hair, took her cell phone and held her against her will in a back bedroom of the home in the 11,000 block of Jacksonburg, court documents read.
The affidavit alleges that Barnett “raped her repeatedly during this time, at least twice a day.”
“If she said no he would he would beat her, hit her in the head, threaten to kill her dog and make other threats of violence,” the affidavit read.
During the nearly two week period, Barnett was also accused of beating her multiple times and “choked her to the point she lost consciousness many times during the days she was held,” court records read.
According to the affidavit, Barnett and the victim left the house approximately twice and went to Meijer and one other store.
“He would hold her hand tightly and threaten to beat her if she ‘did anything stupid’ like try to run or get help,” the affidavit read.
Barnett reportedly called his estranged wife on FaceTime while the victim “curled up in a blanket in the corner of the bedroom.”
Barnett’s estranged wife was the one to call 9-1-1 to get deputies out to the house. She said she suffered similar treatment during their marriage.
“Thank God we got that phone call and she was able to get out of that situation,” Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson said.
The victim was able to escape after Barnett’s estranged wife showed up to the house and was able to distract him, the court record shows.
She was found with her dog nearby.
Barnett was captured near Sidney and deputies suspect he was fleeing to Michigan, the affidavit read.
Barnett remained in the Preble County Jail on Friday afternoon.
