The Dayton area has a rich tradition of professional athletes giving back to the community.
The latest to add his name to that list is Cody Latimer.

The New York Giants wide receiver is supposed to be at practice with his team this week. But after 13 tornadoes hit the region, Giants coaches allowed the former Jefferson High School standout athlete to make a quick trip home to help out.
Latimer is in his sixth year in the NFL after four seasons with the Denver Broncos. He is now headed into his second season with the Giants.

He flew into town Tuesday night, and was feeding some storm victims on Wednesday, thanks to a partnership with Marian’s Piazza.
Much of Latimer’s focus on this trip is to help single mothers affected by the storms. Latimer and his brother were raised by a single mother after his father died in 2005 of cancer.
