KETTERING — Nelly fans flocked to the Fraze Pavilion in July for what they thought would be a fun night.

Concertgoers said Nelly was only on stage for about 20 minutes before the weather stopped the show.

News Center 7 viewers sent us emails from the Fraze team this week saying because the show was at an outdoor venue, their policy states there are no refunds or exchanges even in the case of bad weather.

Christi Barry considers herself a huge Nelly fan, and based on the concert’s attendance she wasn’t the only one.

“It was absolutely packed. Yeah. I mean, it was very hard to even move,” Barry said.

Barry said she remembers the venue telling concertgoers they had to shut things down after the weather moved in, but she didn’t expect this would mean she lost her money.

“I thought maybe in good faith, they might give us some sort of a refund or some sort of percentage back or even an option of a different show or something along those lines, just in good faith,” she said.

She said she was disappointed with how it all went down.

“It just wasn’t a fun experience, and we didn’t feel, I say we, I think many of the customers have expressed that we didn’t really feel very taken care of,” Christi Barry from Miamisburg said.

On Fraze Pavillion’s website, it states “all ticket sales are final.”

A city spokesperson told News Center 7, “On July 20, the forecast was clear at the start of the concert. Severe weather appeared on radar after Nelly took the stage. When conditions are rainy, the show proceeds. Only when potentially harmful conditions emerge is the concert halted.”

Barry said she doesn’t think she will attend concerts at Fraze in the future.
