Northmont Schools tax levy fails by over 700 votes

ENGLEWOOD — An emergency levy looking to benefit Northmont Schools has failed by over 700 votes.

Voters choose to not pass the 7.2 mills levy which would have provided the district with around $5.8 million.

The increase in tax would have equated to $274 for every $100,000 in property value per year.

“Without this operating levy, the School Board and Administration will be developing a list of necessary cuts to be implemented that will include educational programs, staffing, learning technology, transportation, and more,” the district wrote on its website.

A new operating levy has not been presented to voters since 2016.

We will continue following how this impacts the district and update as new information becomes available.
