ENGLEWOOD — (UPDATED @ 11:31 p.m., Aug. 21): Northmont City Schools will admit fans to football games and other fall sports athletic contests through priority tickets offered to parents of football players, band members and cheerleaders.
The news has parents, such as Kenneth Vallie of Clayton, happy.
“These times -- once they are gone they are gone and as a parent, I am starting to cherish that,” Vallie told News Center 7′s Ronnell Hunt on Friday night.
Vallie’s son plays and he believes it’s important for children to see their parents at games as a support system.
“The kids need it. They really do,” he said.
Under the updated health order from the state, outdoor venues are limited to a capacity of 1,500 people or 15 percent of the fixed seating capacity, whichever is fewer. In Northmont’s case, 975 people will be allowed to attend football games.

“With the idea in mind that venue capacities will be limited, we will not be offering season passes or reserved seating for the 2020 fall sports season. Additionally, the GWOC will not be issuing league passes for the fall as well,” the district said on its website.
Under the district’s plan, Senior athletes and band members will be permitted to purchase up to four tickets for the home games. Underclassmen are permitted to purchase up to 2 tickets.
Pre-sale codes will be sent for those eligible to purchase the tickets before the general public. Pre-sale codes will be good for Monday and Tuesday during game week and general public can purchase the remaining tickets beginning on Wednesday of game week.
The district also has plans to live stream the season’s games using cameras from the National Federation of High School Sports.
The district also released ticket plans for other fall sports.
Complete details on the ticket plan are available on the district’s website.
