“So our agency’s taking care of Nate. He’s been placed on injury leave and we’re taking care of him to the best of our ability. Family is very grateful for the support they’ve got from the community,” Maj. Lon Etchison with Xenia police said.
Last week Officer Nate Pointer traveled just outside of the Miami Valley to the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) which is under the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
“He had a medical emergency and was taken to the hospital,” Etchison said.
He said Pointer was still hospitalized on Thursday.
A GoFundMe for his family had raised more than $10,000.
“We’re all concerned. Any time one of your friends is injured or ends up in the hospital, you’re concerned. So yeah, we’re all checking in on him and concerned about him,” Etchison said.
News Center 7 reached out to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office who said “We wish officer Pointer a speedy recovery. We have no further comment at this time.”
