The ceremony began at 11 a.m. after a procession of officers, retirees and cruisers on Riverside Drive.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost was the keynote speaker at the ceremony.

“Every person here has a story. All those stories have one thing in common; every one of them considered the risks and decided to place the good of the community ahead of their own self interests,” Yost said.

Forty officers who have died in the line of duty over the past 130 years were honored and remembered.

“Those officers here and the ones that we lost, memorialized today, are the foundation of our society,” Yost said.
