HARRISON TWP. — UPDATE @ 5:35 p.m.:

Dayton Public Schools say tonight’s Meadowdale boys basketball game against Dunbar has been cancelled due to the fight that broke out just before 1 p.m. this afternoon.

In a statement, a DPS Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Lolli said the school was placed on a brief lockdown once the situation was under control. The incident caused students to be dismissed early.

“Fighting of any kind is not tolerated in the Dayton Public Schools. Students will face discipline and/or legal consequences. The district will continue to monitor student behavior and discipline students appropriately when this type of behavior occurs,” Lolli said.

UPDATE @ 4:05 p.m.:

Deputies say Meadowdale High School was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon after a large fight broke out with several students.

An investigation showed that a student was assaulted by several classmates. A release stated that as the assault occurred, several additional students began to fight throughout the school.

Several students were taken into custody for inducing panic, disorderly conduct and assault, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Regional dispatch records showed that one person was transported from the scene to Kettering Health Dayton. Their condition is unknown.

The incident remains under investigation.

UPDATE @ 1:45 p.m.:

Officers from multiple agencies and multiple medics were called out to Meadowdale High School after a large fight broke out at the school, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

Dispatch records showed that the fight was reported at approximately 1:05 p.m. Officers on scene requested addition help minutes later.

Video obtained by News Center 7 showed at least one person being brought out of the school on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance.

INTIAL REPORT:

A large police presence responded to Meadowdale High School this afternoon after an incident at the school.

Initial reports indicated that additional deputies were called for additional help around 1:10 p.m.
