MIAMI VALLEY — Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is encouraging voters to request and vote by absentee ballots, however in person voting is expected to take place as scheduled.
In-person voting will take place on Nov. 3. Early voting has already started at local boards of elections.
Here’s what you need to know about absentee ballots:
- Ohioans can begin requesting absentee ballots from their local board of elections today and the last day you should try to request an absentee ballot is today (Oct. 27), said Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose. You can download and print a request form here.
- Local boards of elections are already sending out absentee ballots.
- Absentee ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 2. Mailed ballots must be received at the board of elections by Nov. 13 to be counted in the final vote tally.
- Absentee ballots can be returned in-person to board of elections before close of polls on Nov. 3.
ON ELECTION NIGHT:
The Ohio Secretary of State cautioned that results reported on election night will be unofficial results and will not account for any absentee ballots that arrive after election day and by Nov. 13 at Board of Elections that were postmarked by Nov. 2. The unofficial results also will not include any provisional ballots.
The final results from Election 2020 in Ohio will be released on Nov. 24.
