COLUMBUS — The Ohio Statehouse will kick off December with its annual holiday festival and tree lighting later this evening.
From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the statehouse will come alive as local choirs and dancers from OhioDance, and Drake Dance Academy fill the air with cheer.

At the start of the event, Gov. Mike DeWine will light the Christmas tree and welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to the capital, according to a press release from officials.
The press release went on to say there will be cookies and a range of arts and crafts.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s K-9 unit is expected to drop by to demonstrate its skills.
This family-friendly event is free to the public and will also be live-streamed on OhioChannel.org.
