Ohio unemployment continued claims drop for 9th straight week, initial claims rise

OHIO — Ohio’s continued claims for unemployment, which represents people unemployed for one week or more, dropped by nearly 18,000 last week.

The drop marks the ninth straight week of a decline in continued claims, according to Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services data.

The state had 443,621 continued claims for unemployment last week.

While continued claims dropped, initial claims jumped three percent over last week’s numbers, with 35,623 people filing initial claims.
