Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said he hopes the state will begin paying out the additional $300 per week in unemployment benefits funded by the federal government next month.

The extra money would be provided from the federal government after President Donald Trump signed an executive order to extend federal unemployment benefits earlier this month. Congress did not pass an extension of the $600 per week benefit, which had been provided since March and expired at the end of last month.
DeWine said Ohioans could begin to see the payments in mid-to-late September if everything goes forward as planned.
The payments will be retroactive, DeWine said.
Ohio recipients will still receive regular state unemployment benefits under the plan.
