2nd person dies following head-on crash on SR 48 in Shelby County Tuesday

SHELBY COUNTY — Two people have now died and three others were injured following after a head-on crash in Shelby County Tuesday, according to Sheriff Jim Frye.

The accident occurred on state Route 48 near Fessler-Buxton Road in Loramie Twp. around 7:40 a.m. Tuesday.

According to a release from the Shelby County Sherriff’s Office, a 2007 Toyota Tundra, driven by 27 year old Sean T. Brown, was travelling northbound on SR 48 when it struck a utility truck travelling southbound.

Brown died at Miami Valley Hospital from his injuries, the sheriff’s office said. Hayley Worden, 15, who was a passenger in Brown’s vehicle also died.

The utility truck was driven by 51 year old Chris A. Tebbe.

The four occupants inside of the Toyota pickup were trapped inside of the vehicle and had to be extricated.

The other occupants in the pickup were:

  • Alexandria Foster, 10, who was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center and then transferred to Children’s Hospital by CareFlight ground transport,
  • Angela I. Foster, 37, who was transported to Wilson Health and then transferred to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight ground transport.

The driver of the utility truck was transported to Upper Valley Hospital for his injuries, which were non-life threatening.

Angela Foster is listed in “very critical condition” and Alexandria Foster is listed in “very critical condition,” the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies said weather appears to have been a factor in the crash.
