One seriously hurt in snowmobile accident

MONTGOMERY COUNTY — Police in Jackson Township are investigating a snowmobile accident that left one person injured Thursday evening.

Initial reports indicated that crews responded to the area of S. Preble County Line and Lower Gratis roads around 10:30 p.m.

Jackson Twp. Police Chief Jon Schade told News Center 7 that an initial investigation showed that a group of people were riding snowmobiles in a field in the area when one rider appeared to hit a rock. The rider, described as a male in his late 20s, appeared to be ejected from his snowmobile and hit another rock.

Crews on scene initially requested CareFlight to respond to the scene, but they were unable to respond due to the weather.

The man was transported to Kettering Health by an Englewood medic. Schade said his injuries appeared to be severe.

The accident is under investigation.
