Miamisburg man identified in fatal crash in West Carrollton

A man was killed in a head-on collision this afternoon that shut down Central Avenue for more than two hours.

West Carrollton police Sgt. Michael Hanks said the driver of a car went left of center on Central Avenue.

Central Avenue was closed between Weir Street in West Carrollton and Richard Street in Miamisburg.

The driver of the Pontiac Sunfire, who was traveling south toward Miamisburg, struck a sport-utility vehicle headed in the opposite direction. The SUV driver was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries, Hanks said.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office tonight said the man’s name would not be released until Monday, pending notification of family.

Central Avenue between Weir and Richard streets is reopened after a fatal crash in West Carrollton, according to dispatch.

The crash occurred around 2 p.m. on Central Avenue between Weir and Richard streets, which is closed while police investigate.
