SPRINGFIELD TWP. — The driver of a semitrailer was flown to an area hospital by a CareFlight medical helicopter after a crash on I-70 in Clark County Thursday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Units were called to the crash in the construction zone on I-70 near U.S. 68 around 5 p.m. Thursday.
The driver of the semi, identified as 54-year-old Paul Bragg from Texas, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by medical helicopter and was listed in critical condition by state troopers on the scene.
An initial investigation found Bragg’s semi rear-ended a piece of construction equipment driven by Roy Rose, a 39-year-old man from Long Bottom, Ohio. After the collision, the semi traveled across the median and came to rest at the cable barrier.

Rose was not injured in the crash.
State troopers said the interstate was only shut down for about twenty minutes, but it caused a major backup for traffic going both east and west on I-70. A second crash was reported in the backup, and was caused by an impaired driver, state troopers said.
No injuries were reported in the second crash.
The crash is still under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
