Tonight’s event will be held to pay respects to the nine people who lost their lives on the night a shooter entered the Oregon District and began shooting multiple people.
News Center 7′s Dontre Drexelius says the event, “Celebrate the Nine Lives,” will be held outside Blind Bob’s on East Fifth Street from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
There will be special guest speakers and performances as well as a moment of silence.
The event will also shine a light on how well the community is doing and how businesses are returning to normal.
“I do come here a little bit and work on the street,” Tom Tuck of Dayton told Drexelius. “It’s not really brought up a whole lot. But at the same time, you can definitely tell the before and the after.”
The moment of silence will be nine minutes long to honor the nine victims who were fatally shot that night.
