Warren County man killed in crash on I-75 near Middletown Thursday

WARREN COUNTY — A Franklin man was killed and a Centerville woman was injured after a crash on I-75 near Middletown Thursday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Three-vehicles were involved in the crash on Interstate 75 near state Route 122 just before 4:00 p.m. Thursday, state troopers said in a media release.

Gerald Metcalf, 82, of Franklin, was driving a 2005 Buick LeSabre south on I-75 when he lost control and struck a concrete median barrier, a preliminary investigation from state troopers found.

Metcalf’s car traveled back onto I-75 and struck a 2010 Honda Accord, driven by Lu Ann Sewell of Centerville. OSHP says debris from the crash hit a 2021 Honda Pilot that was also traveling south on I-75.

Metcalf was taken to Atrium Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Sewell was treated for minor injuries on the scene by medics.

State troopers were assisted at the scene by Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Joint Emergency Medical Services, and Middletown Fire/EMS.
