Man killed in U.S. 127 head-on collision near Camden identified

The state patrol is working to determine who went left of center in a head-on collision along U.S. 127 south of Camden that killed a man and injured two others, said Sgt. Dallas Root of the Dayton Post.

The man driving a Dodge Ram pickup, Logan W. West, 22, of Cincinnati, was killed on impact with a Nissan Pathfinder.

West was not wearing his seat belt, Sgt. Root said.

Both people in the Pathfinder were wearing their seat belts. The driver, Robert E. Depp Jr., 29, of Trenton, was flown to Miami Valley Hospital. Depp’s passenger, Hoang An Depp, 32, of Trenton, was flown to Kettering Medical Center. Both of their injuries were serious, but they are expected to survive.

Root said patrol investigators are working also to determine whether speed was a factor in the crash, which occurred on a dark stretch of highway on a curve.

The crash was reported about 8:44 p.m. and closed U.S. 127 closed for nearly four hours.
