Over 100 animals rescued from ‘deplorable conditions’

AKRON — Officers rescued over 100 animals from a possible animal hoarding situation in Akron.

Officers were called to the address on Dec. 15.

When they arrived they saw hundreds of animals in “deplorable conditions,” according to the Akron Police Department.

  • 116 chickens
  • 4 turkeys
  • 4 ducks
  • 7 pigeons
  • 36 rabbits
  • 2 guinea pigs
  • 5 goats (now 6 after one gave birth after being rescued)

Many animals were also found dead of starvation or from being out in freezing temperatures.

All animals have rescued been re-homed or placed in other sanctuaries, according to FOCUS Rescue & Rehabilitation.

Police have not said if anyone is facing charges in connection to the neglect.
