UPDATE: Power restored to AES Ohio customers after ‘animal’ causes outages

MONTGOMERY COUNTY — UPDATE: 10:36 a.m.

Power has been restored for thousands of AES Ohio customers who were without power in Montgomery County Wednesday morning.

The majority of outages impacted customers in Englewood.

A spokesperson for AES Ohio confirmed with News Center 7 that the outages were caused by an “animal” at a substation in Englewood.

It was not immediately known what kind of animal caused the outages.

UPDATE: 10:20 a.m.

Over 1,000 AES Ohio customers are still without power in Montgomery County Wednesday morning.

According to the AES Ohio outages map, 1,657 customers are without power as of 10:20 a.m. The majority of outages are impacting customers in Englewood.

A spokesperson for AES Ohio confirmed with News Center 7 that the outages were caused by an “animal” at a substation in Englewood.

The outages are expected to be restored within the next two hours, the spokesperson said.

Over 5,000 AES Ohio customers are without power in Montgomery County Wednesday morning.

According to the AES Ohio outages map, 5,311 customers are without power as of 9:30 a.m. The majority of the outages appear to be impacting customers in Englewood.
