As reported on News Center 7 at 6:00, the email comes after staff found a BB gun in a student’s bookbag.

Fairborn Intermediate School experienced back-to-back incidents concerning weapons. According to the email sent to parents on Tuesday, a student had a BB gun in their bookbag during PE class. A week before that email, a student brought a replica gun to campus.

Fairborn Schools Superintendent Gene Lolli says this is the first time something like this has happened since back-to-back and they’re putting an action plan in place.

“We do have a lot of things in place. We have SRO in every building. So we are very very cognitive of safety for students and staff,” Lolli said.

One father who has multiple kids attending Fairborn Intermediate School said he needs to know the school’s action plan before sending hs kids back to campus.

“They say they have an action plan. So when I ask what the action plan is, I would expect to hear stuff like, ‘Hey the north and south side building is getting locked down.’ Nothing said. As a parent, that’s concerning,” said Anthony Ashbrook.

Lolli said the student who brought the replica gun to school was removed from the classroom and further punishment is on hold while the investigation continues.

Ashbrook said he and other parents will work to keep their children safe.

“The parents aren’t going to rest. I’m not going to stop. We’re going to get heightened security in that school,” Ashbrook said.
