WATCH: Sky 7 shows tornado damage in Wapakoneta; Some still without power after Saturday’s storms

WAPAKONETA — Electric crews from around the area are working to restore power to residents in Wapakoneta after a EF1 tornado touched down early Saturday.

City workers from 10 other municipalities are working to restore power to Wapakoneta, according to a social media post by the city’s police department.

Crews are currently working to restore power to the Eastlake Drive area and said other areas may not have power until Monday due to limited resources.

Drone footage from Sky 7 shows tornado damage to a greenhouse and a nearby business off I-75 at U.S. 33.

There was also damage at the Venture Out Resorts, Arrowhead Lakes Resort at the 14000 block of Cemetery Road where seven people were injured.

Sky 7 footage shows roof damage to a building and damage to the campground.

The resort is currently closed while they assess the damage, they announced Saturday on its social media page.

“(It) started getting real windy outside, you can hear the sirens going on in the background,” Jeff Seidel who was staying at the campground said. “It started pouring and the lights started flickering and that was kind of you know a sign.”

Saturday afternoon Wapakoneta Police Chief Calvin Schneider urged residents to stay home and stay away from damage.

He thanked area business on Sunday for providing meals and assistance to the department as well as dispatchers and officers who worked during the storm.
