BROOKVILLE — UPDATE @ 4:38 p.m.
A woman who was struck and killed by a Rumpke trash truck late this morning in Brookville was identified as 27-year-old Cortney M. Jonker of Brookville by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
UPDATE @ 1:15 p.m.
A Rumpke trash truck was backing up when it struck a woman in a crosswalk in Brookville late this morning.
The victim, described by troopers as a woman in her 20s or 30s, was taken to a local hospital, where she died.
Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the lights on the trash truck were in working order, including the “beeping” noise as it backed up.

Troopers did not say who is at fault.
“We are still working with authorities to determine all the details surrounding the events that lead to this accident,” Randy Broadright, Rumpke area safety manager said in a media release. “Our immediate thoughts are with the individuals who were touched by today’s event.”
“Safety is very important to us and we won’t rest until we determine what happened here today.”
Westbrook Road remains closed and is expected to reopen around 2:30 p.m.

A pedestrian who was hit by a Rumpke trash truck in Brookville died after being taken to an area hospital, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

A pedestrian has been taken to Miami Valley Hospital after they were struck by a trash truck in Brookville.
The accident happened just before 11:30 a.m. today at the intersection of Westbrook Road and Western Avenue and Brookville.
