News Center 7′s Amber Jenkins says there is a water truck at the complex to provide enough water for residents to flush their toilets until the issue can be fixed.
Complex representatives say plumbing crews will work on internal plumbing later this morning.
Jenkins reports dozens of residents have been without water all weekend.
A water main break caused water to flood the apartment’s courtyard, Springfield Service Director Chris Moore told News Center 7 on Sunday.
The city posted on social media that the apartment requested that they turn the water off so they could fix the issue.
However, some residents told News Center 7 that they want more urgency from apartment representatives.
“(I) mean, with it being a government-owned housing, you think that there would be a lot more, you know, things done in advance to avoid problems like this,” said April Shinn.
Other residents said they did not get a heads-up that the water was going to be turned off.
“I look out the window talking to the maintenance man Bill, and I’m like, what’s going on? He’s like, Well, the water, we had to shut it off as an emergency. But who hasn’t given us no notice?” said Yesina Betsy.
Sunset Apartment representatives say they are working on the internal plumbing issue.
We will update this story.
