Man accused in Perry Twp stabbing indicted by grand jury

PERRY TWP., Montgomery County — UPDATE @ 3:50 p.m. (July 31):

Tyler Minton, the man accused of stabbing a woman at a home on South Wolf Creek Pike in Perry Twp. earlier this month, was indicted on two counts of felonious assault Tuesday.

He is scheduled in court for an arraignment on Aug. 14.

The victim has since been released from the hospital.

Prosecutors said surveillance video and statements from the victim led to Minton being identified as the suspect.

Dwight Richard, an off-duty part-time officer was also taken into custody. Richard had placed a 911 call from behind the home.

Richard was released from custody and cleared of charges, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigators declined to comment on why both the victim and suspect were found naked, and why Richard was found with only pants on.

Minton is no longer in jail.

Cruiser camera footage has been released that shows officers responding to a case involving an off-duty officer and a stabbing.

Footage shows the female stabbing victim walk across the road with a firefighter as the first Perry Twp. police officer arrives. He and other officer are heard yelling at a naked man they can see near the house.

The female victim was also found naked.

The naked man was identified as Tyler Minton, 31. Minton would later be arrested and charged on felonious assault charges.

After handcuffing Minton, Dwight Richard, an off-duty part-time officer was also taken into custody. Richard had placed a 911 call from behind the home.

Richard was released from custody and cleared of charges, according to the Montgomery County prosecutor.

The woman stabbed during an incident on South Wolf Creek Pike last week has been released from the hospital, Miami Valley Hospital officials said.

Investigators arrested Tyler Minton, 31, on felonious assault charges following the crime reported around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 11000 block of South Wolf Creek Pike in Perry Twp. in Montgomery County.

Part-time Enon officer Dwight Richard also was arrested, however was released from custody after he was cleared of any charges, the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office said.

We’re working to learn what events led to the violence, however police have not yet released those details.

It’s unclear what Richard’s involvement in the case is, however, he and Minton both called 911 to report the stabbing.
