A woman who claimed to be the driver of this vehicle called News Center 7 and said that her car stated it had over 10 miles left to empty, but ran out of gas while she was in the contraflow lane.
The woman told News Center 7 that she jumped out of her car and over the concrete barrier into her daughter’s vehicle to get gas to fill up her car.
Crystal Beaty said she saw this happen as she and her husband were stuck in traffic on their way to Mason.
“I guess she told the people behind us that she was running low on gas. So she called her daughter or something and said to come get her,” Beaty said.
Traffic was backed up for more than an hour.
A second car was also disabled and had to be towed away.
