Xenia police surround home, arrest man following domestic violence incident

XENIA — UPDATE @ 8:40 p.m.:

A 39-year-old man arrested following a short standoff in the 400 block of East Church Street remains behind bars tonight.

Devon Darnell Edwards was booked into the Greene County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence and assault, both misdemeanors, according to online jail records.

UPDATE @ 10:57 a.m.:

Xenia police and sheriff’s deputies surrounded a home on East Church Street this morning after a report of a domestic violence situation prompted their response.

Officers responded around 10 a.m. to the 400 block of East Church Street.

Eventually, investigators made contact with a man and he surrendered peacefully.

A woman who was at the residence was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.

The name of the suspect was not immediately available.

INITIAL REPORT:

We’re working to learn more about a standoff involving police at a house in the 400 block of East Church Street in Xenia Wednesday morning.

One person was taken into custody around 10:30 a.m., according to our crew on the scene.

Several officers remain on the scene, but details about the investigation were not immediately available.
