MONTGOMERY COUNTY — A person was hospitalized after they got stuck inside a train car and suffered from cold exposure in Montgomery County Sunday morning.

News Center 7 previously reported that medics with the Vandalia Fire Department responded to the 2000 block of East National Road, near the train tracks in the Metroparks on a cold exposure call early Sunday morning.

Crews were told that the person had been traveling from Kentucky in one of the train cars and got stuck inside the train car and was suffering from cold exposure, according to a post shared on Facebook.

A CSX Transportation spokesperson told News Center 7 that they received reports of a “trespasser standing on top of a train,” in Vandalia around 3:20 a.m. Sunday.

Fire crews had to extricate the person from the car, and they were taken to a local hospital. Details on their condition are not available at this time.
