SPRINGFIELD — A planned robbery involving marijuana and a gun led to the shooting death of a 15-year-old Springfield High School freshman inside a Scott Street home Wednesday night, according to newly filed court records.
Kamell Golden was shot at the home in the 500 block of Scott around 4 p.m.
A witness told police he and Golden were conducting a marijuana sale to a group of people at the vacant house where the shooting happened, according to an affidavit filed in Clark County Municipal Court. The witness said a gun was pulled on him and placed against his back as Travis Pearson, 19, wrapped is free arm around his neck. A juvenile at the house pulled a gun on Golden, according to police.
“The witness recalls Kamell begin to run towards the back of the residence when gunfire began,” the affidavit read. “Pearson and (the juvenile) were identified as two of the suspects that shot inside the residence.”
After the shooting Golden and the witness ran to a vehicle and went to Springfield Regional Medical Center. Golden ended up being flown to Miami Valley Hospital, where he died.
Pearson, who is now facing aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping charges, and the other suspected juvenile shooter were arrested after a pursuit Thursday afternoon in the area of Lexington and Buxton avenues.

Pearson was in the front passenger seat of the car and the juvenile suspected shooter ran off and threw a bag, which was later found to have two guns and ammo inside of it. The guns matched the same kind of guns that left behind shell casings at the homicide scene, according to police.
During the investigation, police were able to arrest two other juveniles believed to be involved in the robbery.
The mother of one of those juveniles spoke with News Center 7′s Sean Cudahy Thursday night.
“He was part of it with the robbery part. He wasn’t a part of the shooting,” Star Gevedon said. “Keep your kids safe and close at home and know exactly what they’re doing at all times.”
Gevedon said she has a message for her son, who is now being held at the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of complicity to aggravated robbery.
“I hope lessons learned,” she said. “I hope that after this, and whatever happens, that you really start respecting and start really listening and just get out of these damn streets.”
A second juvenile, who was the driver of car with the suspected shooters in the homicide inside during Thursday’s pursuit, also was arrested.
The homicide victim, the juvenile who police said fired shots and the two arrested for complicity to aggravated robbery were all students in the Springfield City Schools District, a school spokeswoman said.
