Plume of smoke rises above Springfield tire shop after fire breaks out

SPRINGFIELD — Firefighters were called to battle a fire that broke out at a Springfield tire business Monday.

Springfield dispatch confirmed firefighters were called to respond to the fire at a tire shop in the 1000 block of Lagonda Avenue.

A plume of black smoke could be seen coming from the business.

Firefighters on scene told News Center 7 the fire broke out in a trailer for the business that was being used as storage. The trailer contained about 150 tires, and around 50 of them caught fire.

The fire was contained to the trailer and did not spread to the building.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
