DAYTON — Police were dispatched to a local park in Dayton two days in a row on reports of shots fired.
On Saturday and Sunday, police were called to Hickorydale Park near West Hillcrest Avenue and discovered damage to the playground, according to a Dayton police report.

Around 1:40 p.m Sunday, police collected a bullet, and 29 shell casings from four different guns, read the report. Bullet holes were visible on a purple playground dinosaur ride.
No one was hurt on either day, and residents said they are relieved.
“The good thing is they didn't find a body, no blood, just shells; so, maybe, target practice,” Steven Brandy said.
“It's a place of tranquility. I hate to hear it’s fallen victim to violence and gun play, but we won’t lose hope,” Brandy said.

The park is secluded, but Brandy said that can make it forgotten. Brandy said he cares for the park, and called the Dayton Parks and Recreation Department because it was overgrown. On Monday, a city mowing crew arrived to cut the grass.
He hopes the shots were not an act of violence.
“But, kids do come here to play basketball, and some families come back here. I would hope it was (target practice),” Brandy said.
Police are still investigating the incident.
It is unlawful to fire a weapon in city limits.
