Men arrested in SWAT raid in Dayton identified

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 2:56 p.m. (June 28):

The two men arrested during a SWAT raid Tuesday have been identified.

Jerard Miller, 30, and Leo Boykins, 35, were booked into jail on suspicion of trafficking and possession of drugs.  Formal charges are still pending.

UPDATE June 27 @ 8:28 p.m.:

According to a statement by Narcotics Bureau Commander Lt. Mark Ponichtera, a long-standing drug complaint initiated an investigation by the Narcotics Bureau where “probable cause was established to obtain a search warrant” for an apartment in the 1000 block of Danner Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

The warrant, served by Dayton police and SWAT crews, was categorized as “high-risk.”

“Evidence recovered during the service of the warrant included two guns, cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana and more than $1,500,” Lt. Ponichtera said in the statement. “Two individuals were arrested; formal charges are pending.”

FIRST REPORT June 26 @ 2:03 p.m.:

Police have executed a drug-related search warrant at an apartment on Danner Avenue in Dayton Tuesday afternoon.

Multiple officers remain on the scene after the search warrant was executed in the 1000 block of Danner Avenue before 1:30 p.m.

There have been no initial reports of any arrests and police have not identified what they recovered during the search.

Fire crews were dispatched to the scene to help with ventilation after police used a distraction device.
