VANDALIA — The Vandalia Police Department will be holding a mock crash event at Butler High School Tuesday morning.

The purpose is to bring attention to the consequences of drinking and driving with a realistic crash scene taking place, according to a social media post.
The city says there will be lights, sirens and a helicopter landing at this mock crash event.
The exercise is expected to start around 9:15 a.m. and be over by noon.
This is part of Premiere Health’s CareFlight Air Drive Smart program and will be taking place at several Miami Valley high schools throughout the next several weeks.
The Drive Smart program will take place at these schools:
- April 19- Centerville High School- 9:25 a.m.
- April 21- Middletown High School- 9 a.m.
- April 24- Ansonia High School- 9:30 a.m.
- April 25- Bradford High School- 1:30 p.m.
- April 26- Xenia High School- 8:55 a.m.
- May 2- Greenview High School- 9 a.m.
- May 3- Greenon High School- 10 a.m.
- May 4- Piqua High School- 9:30 a.m.
- May 4- Minster High School- 1 p.m.
Drive Smart is free to area high schools.
