HUBER HEIGHTS — A busy Huber Heights intersection has some residents concerned, so police have decided to step in.
Starting on Jan. 5 Huber Heights police said they will assign two officers to the intersection of Old Troy Pike and Merily Way between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
One officer will monitor traffic while the other will be looking for traffic violations, according to a social media post by the division.

Huber Heights Mayor Jeff Gore said the city is always excited to have new business, but with new business comes extra traffic.
The intersection has grown and traffic has become a problem as drivers are blocking business entrances.
Gore said he wants the residents of Huber Heights, and those who drive through the area, to know that city is working on a long-term solution.

The data collected during the traffic enforcement will be used to develop a long-term traffic plan.
“Once that 30-day period is over, doesn’t mean that they’re going away. This will be the first evaluation period to determine if they need to stay there longer or see what compliance we’re getting,” Gore said.
The mayor also said there will be a vote at Monday’s council meeting to hire an engineer firm.
If approved, that firm will look at everything from traffic patterns to traffic lights to see what options the city has moving forward.
