According to Sgt. Creigee S. Coleman with the Dayton Police Department, crews were called to the scene of a two-car injury crash in the 4200 block of West Third Street.

As police were responding to the crash, a vehicle drove through the scene and a woman jumped out and yelled at crews that she had been shot, Coleman said.

“Luckily, the Dayton Fire Department was already on scene dealing with the other individual of the other vehicle injured in the crash and provided life-saving care,” Coleman said. “Again, thank God the Dayton Fire Department was on scene.”

The woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment and her condition is considered to be non-life threatening. Coleman says it appeared the woman was shot in the upper torso.

Police currently do not know where the shooting happened or if it happened in the City of Dayton. The investigation is ongoing.

Coleman says the crash was not related to the shooting.
