1 hurt in Dayton shooting; Car taking victim to hospital crashes

DAYTON — One person is hurt after a shooting in Dayton on Sunday, according to Dayton Police Department Sergeant Douglas George.

Officers patrolling in the area of W 3rd St and N Perry St called out reports of a car crash and a shooting victim around 6:40 p.m.

George said the victim was shot near W Fairview Avenue on the west side of the city.

A driver picked up the victim and was taking them to Miami Valley Hospital.

On the way, the car got into a crash at the intersection of W 3rd St and N Perry St, George said.

Medics transported the shooting victim to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

News Center 7 crews were on scene of the crash and saw approximately 16 Dayton police cruisers.

George said the other people involved in the car crash had non-life-threatening injuries and were not hospitalized.

The victim’s identity and information on any possible suspects were not immediately available.
