Police investigating reports of mail theft in Oakwood

OAKWOOD — Oakwood city officials say police are investigating reports of mail theft in the city.

The Oakwood Public Safety Department began receiving reports of mail theft from some of the city’s U.S. Postal Service mail drop boxes in late December 2021.

Reports indicated that thieves were stealing mail from drop boxes and tampering with checks to complete fraudulent transactions.

Officials advised residents to mail something of significant importance, money and checks inside the Post Office branch rather than using stand-alone drop boxes.
