DAYTON — Police are investigating a shooting at a Dayton apartment complex.

Montgomery County Regional Dispatch confirmed police and medics are responding to the shooting in the 200 block of Park Manor Drive. The shooting was reported around 11:18 a.m.
Dayton Police Lieutenant David Matthews told News Center 7 that shots were fired on the sixth floor of the building.
As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, When police got to the scene, they found a 15-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound in the grass near the south side of the building. He was taken to an area hospital and his injuries are currently believed to be non-life-threatening. He had run down the stairs from the sixth floor after he was shot.

One resident who was too scared to be identified said he suspected trouble developing when a van parked outside moments before the gunfire.
“It caught my attention how quickly they parked, how quickly they jumped out of the vehicle and how quickly they moved to the front of the building,” the resident said.
The resident said just three minutes later shots rang out.
“The first thing I did was hit the floor,” he said. “It happened about 70 feet from my door, it was pretty loud.”
Police are currently searching for a suspect in the shooting. K9 units were brought to the scene to help with the investigation.
Officers don’t think this incident is connected to any of the other shooting incidents that have killed two people and injured 16 in the last few days.
