Woman wounded in Butler Twp. stabbing across from Van Atta Park, police say

UPDATE @ 1:30 a.m: A 53-year-old woman suffered non-life threatening injuries after being found with a knife wound to the arm in a Butler Twp. parking lot, police say.

According to a press release, officers responded to the lot across the street from Art Van Atta Park at 8:45 p.m. for a felonious assault.

The victim, whose name was not released, was transported to Miami Valley Hospital.

A suspect was later apprehended by Dayton police, the release stated. The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office will determine if charges will be filed.

The incident remains under investigation by the Butler Twp. police department.

UPDATE @ 9:40 p.m.: Butler Twp. police are interviewing people in their investigation of a stabbing in the 3100 block of Benchwood Road, across from the entrance to Art Van Atta Park.

The scene of what police believe was a felonious assault is a parking lot behind a business, Mortgage 1 Dayton, which is in the 7800 block of North Dixie Drive at the intersection of Benchwood Road.

The victim is believed to be a woman.

INITIAL REPORT

Butler Twp. police are investigating a stabbing at an apartment building across from Art Van Atta Park, in the 3100 block of Benchwood Road.

The incident was dispatched about 8:48 p.m. and we're hearing the suspect took off in a vehicle. The victim has been taken to a hospital. The condition of that victim is not known.

We're also hearing police are focusing on a person of interest and have issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for a maroon Chevrolet Lumina.
