Officer Hall took Kaya to the closest vet and directly to a veterinary hospital emergency center.
The department said on Facebook that Kaya’s injuries were too severe to overcome, and he passed away a short time later.
“Initial third-party social media posts indicated this was an intentional act. We are continuing to investigate but, at this time, there is no evidence that the crash was anything other than a heartbreaking and horrific accident. The driver did return to the scene to speak with officers,” Streetsboro police said.
Kaya was only three days away from his ninth birthday.
