Father: Car stolen with children in the back seat at a Dayton gas station

UPDATE March 3 @ 8:55 a.m.: Two children were reportedly in the back seat of a car while a man stole it from a gas station parking lot Friday night.

According to the 9-1-1 call made by the father, a man jumped in his 2011, black Crown Victoria while he was inside getting a sandwich at a Subway located inside the All in One Food & Fuel on 119 N. James H. McGee Blvd.

He told dispatchers the children are 5 and 9-years-old, and were sitting in the back seat when the suspect took off.

Initial reports from county dispatchers said the children were believed to be OK.

The father was not able to describe the suspect.

FIRST REPORT March 1 @10:54 p.m.: Police are looking for a man who they believe stole a vehicle Friday night in Dayton that had two children in it in.

We're hearing police have the children, reportedly 5 and 9-years-old, in a Subway sandwich shop at 119 N. James H. McGee Blvd. The children are believed to be OK.

According to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch, a woman left the children in a vehicle parked at the All-in-One Food & Fuel, where the Subway is also, and the vehicle was stolen about 10:18 p.m.

Police have a K-9 unit searching the area for the suspect.
