Initial Report:

>>1 in life-threatening condition after shooting at Montgomery County Fairgrounds

Dayton Police were dispatched to a house on West Mumma Avenue near North Main Street at around 11:55 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting, Montgomery County Regional Dispatch confirmed to News Center 7.

The first person to report the shooting to authorities through the emergency phone line was his aunt, according to recently obtained 911 calls.

She detailed how her nephew “left out the house,” then “went up the street somewhere” before returning with a bullet wound to the stomach. When asked by a dispatcher how she knew he was shot in the stomach, she exclaimed, “I’m looking at the bullet hole right now.”

“It’s bleeding, but it’s not bad,” she continued. “He’s starting to the hyperventilate.”

As she attempted to take life-saving precautions, she noticed that there was no exit wound.

She also repeated, “Calm down baby. Calm down baby,” and “please hurry up and send somebody.”

Officers and medics arrived on scene a few moments later and transported the man to Miami Valley Hospital, dispatch informed. The severity of his injury was unknown at the time of questioning.

Dispatch was not privy to share the suspect’s identity with News Center 7. The female 911 caller was also unaware of who shot her nephew.

Dayton Police led the investigation into the shooting.
