Aaron L. Cook, 18, and he’s been booked into jail on suspicion of murder, however formal charges have not been filed, according to records and a Dayton police report.

Medics and officers were called to the Shell gas station on Germantown Street near South Gettysburg Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Monday on reports of a shooting.

Adrian Cook, 19, of Dayton was identified as the victim found shot and was pronounced dead at the scene, Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger said Wednesday morning. His cause and manner of death were still under investigation, Harshbarger said.

A second victim, only identified as a 17-year-old male, was also found shot at the gas station. The teen was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with injuries that have since been deemed non-life threatening, Dayton police Lt. Jason Hall said in a statement Tuesday.

“Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. At this time, the motive and circumstances leading up to this death are still being determined,” Hall said in the statement.

Police are asking for witnesses, or anyone with information that can help in the investigation, to contact Dayton police at 937-333-2677 or Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at 937-222-7867.

Police said the shooting Monday night does not appear to be connected to a string of back-and-forth violence from last week.
