2 dead after shooting at Dayton apartment complex

DAYTON — Two people are dead after a shooting in Dayton Monday night, a Dayton police sergeant told News Center 7.

As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, Dayton police and medics were called to the Desoto Bass Courts, in the 1700 block of Stewart Street, around 6:30 p.m.

Neighbors said they heard eight to ten gunshots and then watched as several police officers arrived moments later.

They did not want to speak on camera because they were scared of what would happen to them if people in that area knew they shared information.

News Center 7 spent hours watching as officers searched for evidence.

At one point, our crews counted at least 15 police cruisers surrounding the apartment building.

Police had to step three times as neighbors kept getting into arguments.

A Dayton police sergeant told News Center 7 that this investigation is now in the hands of the Homicide Unit.

News Center 7 has reached out to the Dayton Police Department and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for more information.
